Welcome to the second room in our Mid-Way House Tour: our dining room! If you missed the first room, our living room, you can see pictures of it
here. Not much has been done in our dining room. But I have some projects planned for it this summer that will include a couple of the furniture items being refinished and I'm excited about the plans I have for the grey/green wall which I plan to stencil. For now this is where its at. I hope you enjoy!
| Our dining room! |
| The entry is to the left and the laundry room is to the right. |
| The dining room table and chairs. |
| You can read about how we got our table at a discounted price here. |
| And it has a built in leaf, which is great, our other table you had to take the leaf out and find a place to store it, this one just folds right up into the table! |
| Does the chair look familiar? They're very similar to the ones in our living room. |
| And the pillow, look familiar? Yep, they're the bronze colored ones that I removed from the couch because I didn't like the added color over there. So for now, until I decided what to do with them, this is where they are being stored: on the dining room end chairs. |
| We liked the chairs for our living room so much we decided to go buy a couple more and use them as our end chairs for our dining room table. What do you think about the pillow? To keep it there or get rid of it? Hmm, decisions, decisions... |
| Another great find, these four dining room chairs. |
| One of my summer refinishing projects. I think I'll go white, or maybe off-white... |
| And this beauty... Another summer refinishing project. It will also eventually be white. |
| I love the details to this piece, but I don't like the oldschool little girls room look it has right now. |
| I can't wait to refinish it, if any one has any tips I'm all ears! |
| We finally got curtains up in or dining room as well, so no more neighbors being able to see into our world at night. |
| I love the white curtains against the dark chocolate brown, it's beautiful. The wall on the right will eventually be stenciled, I can't wait! |
| The curtains are for 9 ft ceilings, which ours are, but we dropped the curtain rods down a bit to allow for crown molding and so my curtains are a bit long. I think I like the look though... |
| And our sheers were from our old house. They work. But the question is: should I get long ones or do the short work? |
| My mom found these curtains at JCPenney. I had told her about wanting to find curtains with a bit of a shimmer, she went out that same day after we talked and found these at Penney's and they were on a killer deal, thank you Lord! |
| Double curtain rods. |
| the prettier view out our dining room window, from the other direction you see our neighbors garage, boo! |
| Notice our beautiful light fixture... |
| It's things like this I forget we have because my eye now passes right over it, that is until someone comes to our house and points it out, haha! Eventually, once I find something that I really like, it will be replaced but until then these light bulbs work perfect! |
| So thankfully we passed our electrical inspection and thankfully the inspector never checked to see if the outlets were working in our dining room, which at the time they weren't. We couldn't figure out why they didn't work until finally a friend came over who is an electrician and noticed that we had forgotten to cut out the sheetrock for this outlet. Oops, we'll need a bit of patching done. And thankfully now all our outlets work! |
| All the finishing touches around the house still need to be done, this is what it looks like everywhere with no baseboards in place. |
| I really like our banister and I am so happy we went with the wrought iron! |
| This was an odd one, our floor is a 'floating floor' which means you can't screw or nail it down at all so we had to find a way to work around it with the wrought iron posts. They just may be good dust collecting spots... |
| sweet chubby baby hands! |
| hopefully no kiddos manage to get their heads stuck... don't worry, we put them close enough so they can't! But they are too cute! |
| So there's our dining room as is, right now. Lots still to be done but I hope you enjoyed your tour of the second room in our house! |
| My side kick. |
| And a few more pictures just because they're too cute, and underfoot while I'm taking pictures for the tour! |
| Absolutely love my babies! |
| Must be a thumb-sucking kinda day. |
| Oh, and if you happened to notice that there was something on the hutch, this is what it was. Nate and I found this when we were shopping for a card for someone. I love it, each side has a name: Jesus, Immanuel, Messiah, Savior! |
If you missed them here is the first room in our Mid-Way House Tour:
