If I haven't made myself clear already, we need to replace all the shingles on our roof!
Most people who have a new roof don't want to think about it for the next 15 to 30 years. That was us. Until our shingles decided to blow off in the wind.
I've mentioned before that our wind is really bad up here. There have been times when I've seen our sliding glass door bow in a little with the wind, it's a bit crazy. BUT, every other home up here has the same problem and they still have their shingles on their roofs.
And it's not like just a few random shingles have blown off here and there. I might actually expect that to happen. No. No, that is not our problem. About half our roof has blown up or off.
Sad I know.
The sadder part. Yes, sadder. The sadder part is how much time Nathan has spent on our roof trying to fix our shingle problem. In the wind no less. Let's just say I've done a lot of praying while he walks around up there in our crazy wind. And it's been hard for him to sleep on windy nights because he's always listening to know weather any more are coming up or not.
Once we realized the gravity of the situation Nathan first began taring the shingles that were coming up but at this point he's just nailing them all down (which is normally a no no). In our case it's necessary and the only thing that will temporarily keep the shingles on our roof until we can replace them all.
All that to be said I'm asking that you would please pray for us and this situation. When the shingles were installed it was a warm day so they should have sealed and they were installed to factory specifications. So it comes down to them just being a bad batch of shingles. But we have to go through a time consuming process to try and get refunded and the shingles replaced. Our prayer is that the process can be expedited, considering all the work it will take to remove all our shingles now and replace them. And that the company would honor our request to have them replaced.
We'll have some fun times ahead of us. Always something to look forward to. ;)
Oh and by the way, would you like to come help us when we redo our roof?! Pretty Please?!
Here's our roof... |
missing shingles |
missing shingles and if you look closely you can see all the extra nails that have been pounded in to hold the shingles in place for the time being |
All the tar... |
You can see it all the way across the roof |
