Passed!!
We had the final plumbing inspection this week and we passed with flying colors and a complement that it was done well, which is great for Nathan because the plumbing was a tough job for him.
To be ready for the plumbing we had to get one bathroom fully functioning, so we have the kids bathroom shower, sink and toilet working now and flooring put in. It will be the one room in our home with an actual floor in it!! I purchased a bunch of sheets from a second hand store yesterday to staple to our OSB in hopes that it will keep the dust and splinters to a minimum until our carpet and laminate wood flooring come in and can be installed which will be in about 3 to 4 weeks.
Okay, now for the bad news. We sent in our paper work and asked the electrical inspector to come on the 25th of October. It took us almost a full week of calling him last week just to get a hold of him. When he finally answered our call he said he was still a couple weeks out and wasn't even confident in that. Hmmm. And on top of that we still need our final inspection after we are passed with the electrical inspector. Well, our first snow is due to arrive this evening, we are at below freezing temperatures every night now and it could be a whole month still until we get our final inspection completed. So for the safety of our family and our well being we have decided to move into our house, tomorrow!! Everything is ready that was required by the inspector, we just can't get them out here.
Our appliances arrived this past Monday so we have a fridge and working oven! No kitchen sink but we do have a bathtub to wash our dishes in and I suppose we'll stock up on paper plates and bowels and plastic ware for the time being to keep our dirty dishes to a minimum.
We'll have no internet, for who knows how long. We'll be heading back and forth to the Paulson's for things like that (don't worry Paulson's, you can't get rid of us that easily, after living with you for 6 months I don't think we'll be able to stay away!! ;)
It will be an adventure, and we'll have to be creative in a lot of ways as we don't have a lot of things we're used to having in a house. But we're excited to be moving into our house and we're ready to make it our home!!

Not to "lecture" you, but be thankful in all things at all times!! Be thankful you have a beautiful home to move in to~remember there are many who will continue to live in their campers for quite awhile. Be thankful you have a beautiful family to enjoy everyday~many are away from their families or have lost loved ones. Be thankful you have "old" friends like me to be bossy like your mom~we miss you guys terribly and can't wait for you to be settled so we can get together again :) Oh yeah, and be thankful that at your new house, you may actually have phone service again so you can call me!!
ReplyDeleteI am so happy to hear that you were able to move into your home. It may not be finished but at least you have the stove, fridge, beds, bathroom, heating and electricity. It beats camping in the winter in Minot. Love you all, Oma
