Where We're At

Yes, we're still here and yes, we're still building...  It's been a crazy couple weeks around here and a little uncertainty regarding the house, I'll explain in more detail further in the post.  If you're curious as to what we've been up to this past week and a half you can jump on over to Worshipful Womanhood and check out my post titled prayer

Last week our main inspector stopped by and gave us the go ahead as far as the framing of the house (needed before we could sheetrock) and a list of everything he required before we could receive our certificate of occupancy.  The news was better than we expected!  He no longer requires us to have our siding on, so we'll have a partially sided house when we move in.  We need a temporary deck from our slider, stairs down to our garage, hand rails, sheetrock, taped and muded, a working toilet and sink and a final plumbing and electrical inspection.  So the list isn't long, which is great news, but there are still a lot of little things that need to be done before sheetrock can be put up along with the dirt work for our septic which still needs to be finished.

We had a huge answer to prayer too.  Just last week Nathan told me he wished he had hired out our plumbing.  This was one area that had become very stressful for him and was proving to be quite a challenge.  I tried to encourage him by telling him, "Just think 15 thousand dollars less on our mortgage!" But I'm not the one trying to do it.  Well, everything was still not complete when we were set for the inspector to come and that had Nathan very concerned but praise be to the Lord, the plumbing inspector came and gave us to 'okay' to continue with sheetrock!!  He even told Nathan, "You do good work."  WOW!

So, now we're just waiting for our electrical inspector, who was a couple weeks out due to his work load from all the flooded homes.  Nathan has been calling him on a semi regular basis in hopes that he'll head out to our house sooner than he originally planed and finally today he said he'd come out tomorrow, Friday, or Monday for sure!

And sheetrock is due to arrive on Monday, possibly sooner!

That brings us to the beginning of October.  We are in the Northern part of the country.  I can say this, the Lord has completely blessed us with beautiful weather thus far.  Now we're just praying for continued blessing upon our weather and for an Indian Summer.  But there is no guarantee, so there has been talk and a plan for me (Jeana) and the kids to head "home".  To be honest, even though we would love to see everyone, we would rather be able to go as a family; we would rather not have to be apart from Nathan.  At this point things could go either way, depending on inspections and if Nathan can get a little time off work to spend a few full days working on the house then maybe I'll be able to stay and if it gets too cold we could move into a house with another family for a couple weeks.  But if it would be longer than a couple weeks that we'd be able to move into the house come mid-October we'll begin our drive to the West Coast and stay until the house is ready for us to move into.

We would really appreciate your prayers, that the Lord would allow everything to come together quickly so we could move into the house by the end of October, that He would provide in abundance, people willing to help Nathan with all the work, that Nathan could get some time off from work this next week, that the inspectors would be available as soon as we're ready for them and that they would find everything to their satisfaction and we could receive the certificate of occupancy.

There is light at the end of the tunnel!  Stay tuned and we'll let you know what the verdict is.
